Have you ever seen a product that you know you want to dive in and experience it just by the way it looks? That’s what Vinebox does for me. It really is the coolest idea in wine tasting to come along in a while. But it’s not just about looking cool, the wine is also a key piece of what makes this exciting. From Tyler Kennedy, the wine director at Vinebox: “We source wines that you won’t find at the corner store (not even your fancy wine shop) whether that be a true to form classic Bordeaux from the banks of the Gironde River or a funky, fresh and fun ramato style Pinot Gris from Slovenia.”

Vinebox is a monthly tasting subscription. That’s right, I said monthly tasting subscription. This may sound a little strange and I agree. When you are part of a wine club, you receive bottles of wine, not tastings. But this one is different.

In each monthly tasting, you receive 3 cylindrical bottles of wine each holding a glass full. You get to choose if you want red, white or both.

Now you may be wondering how Vinebox prevents the wine from coming in contact with oxygen. Well, it’s scientific really. They use a closed-nitrogen environment which protects the wines from being exposed to oxygen which could affect their flavor. By keeping the environment closed and controlled, Vinebox is able to keep the flavor profile completely intact. The wine stays fresh in the tasting bottle for up to 3 years. But who would wait 3 years? Certainly not me or any wine lovers.

Vinebox offers month-to-month, 3 month (which can be sent as a gift) and 12 month subscriptions. You can also choose if you want to receive 3 glasses each month, or double that amount. Each wine comes with tasting notes, recommendations and pairings.

  • Month to month – $29 per month for 3 glasses
  • 3 Months – $27 per month for 3 glasses ($81 total)
  • 1 year – $25 per month for 3 glasses ($300 total)

12 Nights of WineComing soon in time for the holidays, Vinebox will offer its Twelve Nights of Wine Limited Edition. Touted as the first wine advent calendar, the box contains 12 glasses of wine, hand-curated to match the season. Last year, the Twelve Nights of Wine sold out in 4 weeks, so if you are interested, be sure to sign up to be notified of its release.

  • Twelve Nights of Wine Limited Edition – $129 with shipping included. That’s only $10.75 a glass. What a great gift idea!

I’m impressed with Vinebox and here’s why:

  • It’s an actual wine tasting delivered to your door with 3 different wines for you to try.
  • The wines are hand-curated from wine regions around the world.
  • The unique packaging is so eye-catching and classy.
  • It’s a creative way to enjoy different wines that can’t be found elsewhere.

If I had anything negative to say, it would be that this isn’t the most economical gift. You can get very good bottles of wine for the same price, but you would get at least a couple glasses more.

Aside from that, this is classy and so different than a typical gift of a bottle of wine. You wouldn’t get the experience you are getting here from a similarly priced bottle of wine, so for me, the economics work and it’s worth it.

I highly recommend Vinebox as a gift for the wine lover in your life, or for yourself if want to indulge in the fun. If you give it as a gift, it will come via email with a personalized note from you. The recipient will then be able to customize his/her experience.

I ‘d love to know your thoughts on this creative wine tasting gift idea. Please share with me below.

Cheers,
Jackie
